Choosing the Right Botox Provider

When it comes to choosing your Botox provider, there are several crucial factors to consider. First and foremost, seek a practitioner who is medically registered and insured to prescribe and administer Botox. Check their reputation and reviews from previous clients. Word of mouth and online testimonials can be a goldmine of information.

Consider the location and atmosphere of the clinic as well. A clean, welcoming, and professional environment is a good indicator of a reputable provider. Accessibility and convenience also play a role, as you want your journey to be hassle-free.

If in doubt, check the Save Faces website to ensure your practitioner has passed their rigorous check list and are practices safe, effective procedures.

Understanding the Basics: What Is a Botox Consultation?

Before we dive into what to expect, let’s break down the basics. A Botox consultation is your opportunity to sit down with a qualified practitioner and discuss your goals, concerns, and expectations. It’s the starting point of your Botox journey, a crucial step that paves the way for a successful treatment.

  • An Assessment of Your Unique Needs - Nurse Lisa will examine your facial features, take note of your muscle movements, and assess your skin. This personalised evaluation is the key to creating a tailored Botox treatment plan that addresses your unique needs.

  • Honest Discussions and Realistic Expectations - During the consultation, you’ll receive honest, professional advice about what Botox can and cannot do. This is the time to set realistic expectations for your treatment. Your nurse practitioner will guide you on the areas that can benefit from Botox and discuss what you can expect in terms of results, longevity, and the number of sessions required.

How can I get rid of my crow’s feet?

Ironically, crow’s feet are known as laughter lines, but when we notice them we’re not usually laughing!

These are the little lines which form around our eyes eventually getting bigger and deeper due to the natural ageing process.

How to prevent Crow’s feet?

Prevention

You know what they say – Prevention is better than cure.

Over 90% of premature ageing is caused by sun damage – over exposure to the sun.

Be sun-safe!  Are you wearing your sunnies and a hat when you’re out in the sunshine?

Skin care – Are you protecting your skin from sun damage? Are you wearing a broad-spectrum SPF for your eyes?

Injectables:

Some of us need some extra help to correct our laughter lines…Anti-wrinkle injections (aka Botox) are a safe and effective treatment which work very well to reduce and often completely erase these lines.

My clients get lovely results with this procedure, their lines are softened and smoothed away easily.  A very popular choice of treatment, leaving beautiful natural results.

Top 10 areas on the face to treat with Botox:

  • Frown Lines

  • Forehead Lines

  • Bunny Lines – Lines across the bridge of the nose.

  • Crow’s Feet – Lines on the upper two thirds of the lateral eye.

  • Mentalis Dysfunction – ‘Dents’ in the chin.

  • Brow Lift – Creates a lifting effect of the brow.

  • Gummy Smile – Smile with over exposure of the upper teeth and gums.

  • Platysma Bands – Ageing muscle neck lines/bands.

  • Hyperhidrosis – Excessive sweating in areas such as the palms of the hands and underarms area.

  • Glabellar Lines – Vertical lines between the eyebrows that resemble the number 11.

How does Botox work?

Under normal circumstances your brain sends electrical signals from nerve endings to your muscles allowing them to contract and move. A substance called acetylcholine is used to send these signals from a nerve ending to your muscles.

Botox blocks the uptake of this substance at the muscle receptor, which inhibits the ability for the brain to tell your muscles to move, allowing them to relax.

How long does it take to see results?

The length of time that botox takes to work depends on the area being treated and the dosage used. For example, Botox can take anywhere from three to eight days for patients to notice results. For areas such as the glabella (the area between your eyebrows) and crow’s feet, it may take only three days for results. It may take up to eight days for more advanced areas, such as the forehead and frown lines.

The results will also depend on how quickly your body metabolizes Botox and how much product is injected into a given area.

Here are some aftercare tips for Botox injections:

  • Avoid touching the treated area: Don't rub or massage the treated area for at least 24 hours after the procedure.

  • Stay upright: Maintain an upright position for at least four hours after treatment.

  • Avoid strenuous activity: Avoid intense physical exertion for at least 24 hours after treatment.

  • Avoid heat: Avoid saunas, hot tubs, tanning booths, and sun exposure for at least 24 hours after treatment.

  • Avoid alcohol: Avoid alcohol for a day or two after treatment. Alcohol can increase the risk of bruising.

  • Sleep on your back: Sleep on your back for the first night after treatment and for the next couple of nights if possible.

  • Be patient: The full effects of Botox injections typically show within two weeks of treatment.

  • Follow up: Schedule a follow-up appointment with your healthcare provider.
